- Assist individual and/or group members of the Community, to develop new areas of community activity and support.
- Seek out and share information relevant to the work of voluntary groups
- Act as a focal point and resource for individuals and groups in the community with regard to education and training, health, and social well-being.
- Seek ways of bringing together people, who are concerned about similar issues or problems.
- Identify any areas of unmet need in the local community and seek to fill those gaps in partnership with other community and statutory providers.
- Give priority to working with people whose full participation in society is limited by economic, political and social disadvantage
- Uphold and promote good practice within the Association
- Ensure the services provided by the Association are of the highest possible standard.
- Support all groups and individuals equally, regardless of age, race or disability.
GOLDSTAR EXEMPLAR PROGRAMME
We were delighted to receive two years funding through to April 2008. The Association was recognised for its existing good practice in recruiting and retaining volunteers.
This funding has enabled us to continue to support & develop our internal volunteer projects, not least by enabling us to provide a more realistic level of funding for staff and volunteer training.
It has also allowed us to extend our work with external groups who utilise the services of volunteers through the Dissemination of Good Practice. This includes:-
- A quarterly Newsletter
- Good Practice Library Material – available for loan.
- Training for external local organisations for volunteers and staff – at subsidised prices.
